Description
Maize is an important cereal crop cultivated in several areas of the world, including Tanzania. It serves several purposes including food for human beings, animal feeds and industrial raw materials. Like other crops, at any stage, maize can also be attacked by different disease-causing pathogens, seed-borne fungi being one group among those. In our societies, people have been undermining the negative effects caused by seed-borne fungi of maize; but there are plenty of them. Hampered crop productivity (due to poor seed germination, field epidemics, and seed deterioration in stores) and health hazards are a few of them to mention.
