Democracy is the one of the most popular forms of governance in the 21st century world. Most of the states of the current world has the democratic form of government. Though democracy had changed as it was during its birth at Athens. In the Athenian form democracy citizens were able to directly make the ruler accountable for their actions. But such glorious form of democracy has been reduced only to voting process after a certain period of time. In the meantime the Principle of Constitutional Democracy emerged, of which accountability is a major element. In this book, the idea of accountability of the people’s representative, who are elected by the people in a democratic process, has been put under the focus. The situation of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has been analyzed and discussed in the form of a research. Based on multiple theory of democracy, including the Principle of Constitutional Democracy, the author of the book has elaborated the necessity of accountability of the people’s representatives to the people and participation of the people in the governance process for achieving maximum benefit from the democratic governance process. In this book, the existing problems and barriers in Bangladesh regarding accountability of people’s representatives and participation of the citizens in the governance process are outlined. Then the author has recommended some policies and amendment of existing policies for overcoming the problems and barriers which are now hindering the accountability of the people’s representatives to the people and participation of the people in the governance process.
