Description

Community newspapers were the logical champion of local issues (Macneill, 2014). It demonstrated to the community members what is going on within the community as it provided information about local business, issues, festivals, upcoming sales, and decisions that affected the society as a whole. It provided information that will update and impact them on a daily basis. It contributed to rural development as it made people aware of what surrounded them and made them voice out their opinions and needs. Development must start within one’s self, a specific community, and everyone must be aware of the issues their community were experiencing in order to find solution and resolve the problems.

This study was conducted to evaluate Sunday Punch Community Newspaper in terms of its attractiveness, comprehensiveness, acceptability, self-involvement to the reader, persuasiveness, and recall as a channel of information on local issues to the citizens of Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
