Description
Poultry coccidiosis is a severe parasitic disease caused by Eimeria species that are obligate intracellular Apicomplexan protozoan parasites. This disease causes different clinical symptoms including diarrheal feces, poor weight gain, and high mortality. Therefore, it causes huge economic losses to poultry industry that reach up to USD 3 billion dollars worldwide. This
corresponds the researchers to find alternatives to control chicken coccidiosis. Plant-derived compounds and their products have shown better anticoccidial effects. Additionally, nanotechnology begins to create new alternative drugs for parasitic diseases. Therefore, this study discuss the in vitro anticoccidial activities of ultrasonicated ethanolic extract of Rosmarinus officinalis and its chitosan-based nanoparticles on E. tenella oocysts of chickens.
