Description

Fenugreek is one of the oldest cultivated medicinal plants known to man, and studies have shown that its seeds and leaves have antioxidant properties. India is one of the world's largest producers of Trigonella foenum-graecum L.Fenugreek is a key source of human nutrition. It contains natural food fiber as well as other essential nutrient products to the human body. Its leaves and seeds are utilized in cooking as well as in Ayurvedic medicine. Fenugreek seeds, as described in the Greek and Latin Pharmacopoeias, are said to have anti-diabetic and hypocholesterolemic properties, as well as curative gastric anti-ulcer, anti-fertility, and anti-nociceptive properties. Many pharmacological and clinical studies have proven the therapeutic efficacy of fenugreek extracts in providing sedation. As a result, many of its therapeutic actions have been confirmed, and the mechanisms of their action are being studied. The present study focusses on the effect of various types of biofertilizers on the nutritional and phytochemical profile of fenugreek.
