The book is based on the usage of Web 2.0 tools in higher education in South Africa. The purpose of the study was to investigate the factors that influences the usage of Web 2.0 tools in higher education in South Africa to supplement traditional classroom teaching. The researcher developed a theoretical model representing the factors that influence the usage of Web 2.0 tools in higher education. The findings revealed the current level of usage of Web 2.0 tools among academics in higher education as well as the factors that influenced academics to use Web 2.0 tools to supplement traditional classroom teaching. One factor, perceived usefulness had a significant impact on usage of Web 2.0 tools. The study also observed educators’ understanding of the usefulness of Web 2.0 tools for teaching and learning. Therefore, the study examined the status in terms of Web 2.0 technology tools in two private, South African higher education institutions (Monash South Africa and Pearson Institute of Higher Education) in Gauteng.
