Description

The primary concern of urban areas is lowering greenhouse gas emissions due to internal combustion engine-based vehicles. In addition to harming human health, the overuse of these vehicles also degrades the earth's ecological system.  One of the key contributors to global warming and climate change is the production of numerous hazardous oxides, such as CO2, NO2, SO2, etc. To reduce the amount of greenhouse gases, researchers and governments worldwide support using electric vehicles (EVs) as an alternative mode of transportation. Transitioning to plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) from traditional engine-based vehicles has several benefits for the environment and the economy, including fuel flexibility, good performance, and reduced reliance on fossil fuels. Therefore, the proper charging infrastructure is necessary for the broad deployment of PEVs. The installation of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCSs) negatively affects the parameters of the electrical distribution system, such as active power loss, voltage fluctuation, total harmonic distortion, stability, and reliability. In order to maximize the advantages of EV users and reduce station development costs, this book concentrated on enhancing the parameters of the distribution system. Therefore, in this book, the installation of the charging stations is considered under three approaches as the EV user, distribution system operator, and charging station investor. The optimal location and size of charging stations are the main objectives by considering the above-discussed approaches of this book.
