Description
This work has improved the current capacity to estimate the flow and erosion of Pelton turbines using experimental modelling and erosion modelling based on computational fluid dynamics. Additionally, the standard method of Pelton turbine erosion modelling did not consider cavitation. This study also looks at how the bucket erosion caused by cavitation affects the Pelton turbine's diminishing efficiency. Five M.Sc. theses and a BE Mechanical final year project were specially done to complete the aforementioned tasks in academic courses. This book is divided into seven chapters among which, the first one is general introduction of scenario of hydropower plants working in Himalayan region. Remaining chapters’ present modeling approach of injector flow and erosion, bucket flow and erosion, inception of bucket erosion and eccentric interaction of jet and bucket. Addition to this, a chapter is dedicated to study the cavitation led efficiency deterioration of the Pelton turbine. This book is aimed to improve current capacity to model flow and erosion of Pelton turbine injector.
