Description
This book contains a collection of studies mostly focusing on gender. The most important part of the studies included in this book are the studies that focus on gender in education context. These studies investigate both old and new school curriculum textbooks in Nepal. Although school textbooks are one of the primary resources in the school education in Nepal, there are not much research in this field. Moreover, this study connects textbook studies with the teacher’s perspectives on the gender representation in the textbook contents, and students’ interpretation of gender. Gender related studies in this book also focuses on the gender representation in the television contents with special focus on the commercials. This book also includes studies that explore students’ opinions through various modes such as writings, drawings, and their interviews. The responses from students have uncovered their opinion regarding social and personal issues, their opinion regarding scientists, gender, and their livid experience as a male and female in Nepalese society. Students’ from initial school year to masters level have participated in the various studies conducted under different topics. Although studies in this book are limited to the Nepalese context It is expected that these studies equally contribute to add a spectrum in the wider studies that address various studies in gender contexts belonging to various countries. This book can be an important reference for the understanding of gender in education context. It is equally beneficial for the concerned publishers, educators, and future researchers in this field.
