Description

This book describes the vulnerability of communities in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) to climate Change impacts (CCI) and examines centrality of Universities in mitigation and adaptation processes. Conceptually, sustainable approaches are needed to empower communities to participate in climate actions. In this regard, public and private sector agencies are incorporated as partners. The nature, magnitude and impact of climate change across the Food, Energy, Water and Environment/ecosystems (FEWE) nexus are described. These four components, presumed to be central to community life in SSA, are inseparable and efforts to address CCI for each of the components inevitably impacts on the others. Addressing this complexity calls for joint ventures of multi-disciplinary teams from natural sciences, economics, humanities, sociology, behavioral and communication sciences.
