India is a nation with rich cultural practices. One of those that is well known for its therapeutic purpose is Couroupita guianensis, popularly known as the "cannonball tree." Sri Lankan Buddhism accords cannonball flowers a special significance in its cultural heritage. It is known as the Nagalingam flower in Tamil Nadu. The bloom's centre displays the shape of a Sivalingam, which represents the Hindu god Lord Shiva. This flower is known for its snake-shaped pollen and excellent fragrance.
