Description

This book contains some introductory and advanced features of digital logic and computer organization. It is a summary of my academic experience in the last ten years that I have been in teaching and research. Students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels up till PhD degree should find this book very useful. Of course, knowledge of programming in high-level languages such as Java, C, C++, and Pascal will also be very useful to give the student a good perspective on the current development of the subject. This book begins with a chapter on basic microelectronic, which involves Boolean algebra, basic logic gates, multi-vibrator circuits, and code conversion for representing decimals and other binary systems. Simple digital multi-meters and some of the components of hardware maintenance are described in this book. Chapter 3 of this book discusses the operating system for operations in memory hierarchy systems, storage devices, directory services, and security. Chapter 4 contains experimental analyses and designs for simple logic gates and other combinational circuits such as half and full adders for implementing most of our digital electronic components. The book has been written in a way that students can read and understand basic concepts of digital electronic components and other related topics around this research field. Hence, there is no doubt that this work would be very useful to students especially in developing efficient and robust techniques in computer architecture and organization.
