Description
The emergence of new pandemics seems to be inevitable due to the globalization especially the viral diseases such as COVID-19, dengue fever, rhinovirus etc. and their combat largely depend on the individuals own immune system status. Rhinovirus and coronavirus together, causes more than 55% of the common colds in the human population. In late December 2019, a group of patients were admitted to hospitals with an initial diagnosis of pneumonia of unknown etiology. These patients were epidemiologically linked to a seafood and moist animal wholesale market in Wuhan, Hubei province, China. Currently, there is no consensus on treatment algorithms for covid19, as the evidence available is not well controlled and largely based on personal accounts rather than facts or research. Given rapid and catastrophic spread of covid19, there is an urgent need to explore preexisting therapeutic options while novel therapies and vaccines are being developed.
