Description

This book is a collection of research on International Political Economy and its implications. The book aims to offer simple but academically rigorous perspectives on different topics in the current global economic system. Altogether, this essay anthology provides a reliable framework for further research on new or neglected ideas and concepts in the IPE theory or to offer a new understanding of future trends.
Some articles analyze current scenarios and trends in the geopolitical economy, like the struggle for a currency union in West Africa and the global problem of high debt after the pandemic. Other essays critically review the literature regarding capitalism and international trade, aiming to push IPE literature beyond its current limitations. This work demonstrates vast opportunities for international political economists. The discipline is still young and can contribute to human development. I argue that it is time for interdisciplinary scientist, like political economists, to lead the change in political science research toward a more unified discipline that accept contributions from other fields. IPE has much to offer to theory and practice.
