Description

The Author of this book strives to delve into the international raison d'être and the institutional legal lives of International Organizations (IOs), by analytically investigating how such are constitutionally conducted, through the principles of "speciality" and "implied powers" mechanisms. Without the Member States of International Organizations (IOs), their existence will perish because it is only through their Member States that they derive their specified powers, functional and bureaucratic operations. This book envisages to use the International Labour Organization (ILO), to unpack the distinct difficulties that International Organizations (IOs) are mostly confronted with, in the exercise of their functions and powers as defined in their constituent instruments. The Author embarks on investigating and analysing the various constitutional compliance mechanisms and powers of control put at the juridical disposal of the International Labour Organization (ILO), which aims at securing compliance towards her tripartite stakeholders "Member States, Employers and Workers". Consequently, this book identifies some of the legal loopholes within the ILO, and puts forward proposals.
