Detailed Course Outlines for 21 Graduate (Hons.) Courses for the core subjects of Arts & Science streams and four job-oriented courses: Accountancy, B.Ed., Journalism, and Law were prepared, in two volumes (listed in the References of the present book), by us for Melanesian Virtual University, Baba (Bougainville). A P-G Course in Maths. was also planned.
The authors also made fruitful exercise about the minimum enrolment of students with that it may be possible to launch the project on ‘No Profit - No Loss’ basis. It is speculated that, in the initial stage, the project may be launched with bare 15 students per Programme. Essential information is presented in Six Chapters. The first chapter is introductory and is a bit repetition of the one from previous compilation [6]. Chapter 2 details all the relevant information for the I-Year (called the Foundation Class) of all the 19 Programmes having it. Summary of Course Details, number of students and the Resource Persons / Faculty, Income generated through the tuition fee and the estimated cost to the University is included therein. The budget for the Foundation Class is further detailed in the next chapter with provisions of improving the savings through investment in Fixed Deposits with the Bank. Chapter 4 presents the annual budget for subsequent years of study (II – IV) on similar lines. Unfortunately, no any significant savings are generated through these classes. Indeed, a nominal loss of Kina 570 per Subject / Program is indicated at the end of each of II and III Yrs. However, it is compensated by revenue generated through the next Class (IV Yr). With austerity, avoiding any extravagance and adopting a community living for the resource persons, a good fortune of savings worth over 2.3075 million Kina is generated by the calendar year 2028 through all such 19 Programmes in a span of 4 years. It may be noted that the travel cost (for local transportation as well as the international travel of the faculty) is not included.
