Description

In the 21st century, the need to develop flexible engineering education programs for diverse global faculty members has increased due to the globalization of the economy and cross-border mobility under the World Trade Organization. The demands of multinational companies must be precisely identified to prepare effective, efficient programs that will be utilized by many students in developing countries. Almost all developing countries are willing to send their students to international companies to acquire the skills they need. Outstanding faculty members undertake consultancy projects for many international development agencies, including the Asian Development Bank, Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), German International Development Agency (GIZ), Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisztion (UNESCO), and the World Bank.  Hence, all institutions must train their faculty members through various effective models from recruitment to retirement. They need to focus on outcome-based engineering programs and plan industry-aligned, sustainable, and interdisciplinary engineering and technology programs. Further, they must introduce interdisciplinary programs to develop their graduate engineers to analyze, design a prototype, test, improve, and choose the best manufacturing methods that ensure quality, less consumption of energy, and maintenance-free products. The faculty members also need more industrial exposure through internships and solving many problems. Educational administrators must generate revenue by utilizing space, equipment, and the competencies of their faculty members to supplement and complement the grants-in-aid they receive from local and federal agencies. Curricula need to be continuously improved through formative and summative evaluation. The formative assessment could be done by utilizing the employers' representatives and experts from engineering institutions.
