Discover the medicinal potential of Laggera crispata, a traditional Ethiopian medicinal plant, through a scientific exploration of its phytochemical composition, antioxidant properties, and antibacterial activities. This study investigates leaf extracts obtained using solvents of different polarities, identifying important phytochemical groups, including phenolics, flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and terpenoids. Through established laboratory assays, the research evaluates antioxidant capacity and antibacterial effects against four pathogenic bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The findings reveal promising biological activities, particularly in the methanolic extract, highlighting the plant’s potential as a source of natural antioxidant and antibacterial compounds. This work contributes to the scientific validation of traditional medicinal knowledge and provides a foundation for further research into bioactive compound isolation, characterization, and potential therapeutic applications.
