Description

Dil Bahadur Gurung is a young man from a remote Nepalese village who becomes a brave Gurkha soldier and fights in the Falklands War. After his retirement he goes to Japan to work on a farm, hiding his heroic past. But when tragedy strikes and his wife and son die in a landslide, he returns heartbroken to Nepal. Later he moves to London, after the Gurkha justice campaign wins in the UK, and works humbly in a vegetable shop. He grows old, returns to his village and quietly spends his pension on clean water and the local school. He died of cancer, and the school was named after him by the village. A touching story of a soldier, a worker, a bereaved husband and a selfless community builder, whose quiet courage and kindness will never be forgotten.
