James Prentice is from the historic town of Hastings on the British south coast and graduated from the University of Kent in 2015. He was later awarded a Masters with Distinction in Political Science from the University of Essex and is currently a doctoral researcher at the University of Sussex. His current research explores voting behaviour in UK elections across the 2010s, in order to explain major changes in voting patterns during this period. His most recent work focuses on the 2019 election, and aims to understand the breakdown of traditional voting patterns, such as why so many traditional Labour voters abandoned their party for the Conservatives. He forms part of the quantitative tradition and uses big data to focus on understanding the bigger picture within UK politics.
