Surajit Kalita is a postdoctoral research fellow at the department of Mathematics & Applied Mathematics at the University of Cape Town. He has completed his Ph.D. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in 2021. Earlier, he finished his undergraduate from the University of Delhi in 2015 and his masters in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 2017. His research interest spans from studying compact objects primarily white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes using modified gravity theories to quantum gravity regimes. He is currently more focused on the physics of fast radio bursts and underlying gravitational waves from compact objects. He has published 17 research articles in international journals and conference proceedings over the last five years.
