Stephen Blenkin was born and educated in South Wales. He studied at Caerleon Comprehensive School, before entering the world of work.
After gaining valuable experience following varied career paths, he embarked on a degree course in Computer Science, at the University of Glamorgan, which led to a research position.
In 2007, Stephen began work in the integration department of a well-known Telecommunications firm; where he eventually became Design Authority for their police liaison application used to track credit/debit card transactions for possible links to fraudulent activity; together with their online Credit Card Tokenising application. He also become OWASP Certified in order obtain PCI-DSS compliance.
Seeing an offer of redundancy as an opportunity rather than a catastrophe, he embarked on a MSc in Cyber Security, at the newly formed USW, studying under Gareth Davies Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science. He was awarded a first-class honours degree in 2019. Stephen’s skills and expertise in working with computers, plus a goal of highlighting some of the pitfalls involving the ever-increasing use of crypto currency, makes his choice of subject a go to publication for the world of commerce.
Since leaving University Stephen has become a certified ISO27001 Lead Implementer and is currently embarking on CISSP Certification.
