Geert Driessen
Dr. Geert Driessen received a teaching degree before continuing on to study pedagogy and educational science. His Ph.D. thesis was on the educational careers of immigrant children and the effects of bilingual education. He has worked for nearly 35 years as a senior educational researcher at ITS (Institute for Applied Social Sciences) of Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands. His expertise lies in the field of education in relation to social class, ethnic background, and sex. Other topics are: early childhood education and care; bilingual education and language development; educational careers; educational policy; educational inequality; parental involvement; religion and denomination. He published many hundreds of articles, chapters and books. At present, he is semi-retired and active.
