Description
The SOS pathway, crucial for managing salt stress in plants, has been explored in the salt-sensitive Areca palm. Through genomic analysis, 10 Areca SOS genes (AcatSOS) were identified, categorized into subfamilies, and characterized for various features. Segmental duplications played a key role in genetic diversity. AcatSOS genes share ancestry with other monocots, and specific genes (AcatSOS-4, -6, and -8) show high expression in relevant tissues, suggesting their role in salt tolerance. This study provides essential insights into the Areca palm SOS gene family, offering potential targets for molecular breeding to enhance salt tolerance in this important crop.
